Who supports SUWA, know your friends.
Hey all,
Something to keep in mind when planning your trip to Moab this June. SUWA, the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, does not want you, me us to have access to public lands. This organization attempts to stop the Jeep Safari in Moab every year. Recently SUWA took out a full page ad in the Salt Lake tribune listing its supporters. This was a straight up Anti-OHV ad. This does NOT mean that Moab is Anti-OHV. Quite the opposite. All right… Now read carefully. Here is a list of every business and person listed on the recent Propaganda Advertisement by our good “friends” at SUWA. All of the numbers may not be accurate. All of the contact info is public knowledge and can be found in the phone book. We have confirmed that there are a few businesses on this list that “claim” to have had no knowledge that their name was going to be used at all. Others claim they signed what they thought was some sort of petition, but didn’t know their names were going to be used and printed in this ad. Here is how we see it. If these businesses really don’t support these ideals, then they need to make it known publicly. They need to put the burden back on SUWA and demand a public apology. If businesses are unwilling to do anything about it, then it’s likely they are sympathetic to SUWAs views. In which case we should make every effort to not support them and let everyone know who these businesses are and why they shouldn’t support them. We respect their right to have their own opinions. But is also our right and duty to patronize businesses that help promote our own ideals. What needs to happen is for EVERYONE of you to call some of these businesses and ask the owner if he or she is supporting the messages in the Ad. If so let them know how you feel. DO NOT , be belligerent, rude, or foul in anyway. Please don’t further the grossly inaccurate stereotype of Motorized recreationists. It’s time we started attacking the enviros in their pocket books, and those who support them. Our community carries more economic weight than do the enviros. Don’t forget that. Again even if some of these businesses don’t support the enviro agenda, calling them will let them know, “what side their bread is buttered on”. They will be more cautious next time someone comes in with flowery talk about protecting “Wild Places”. Please be nice yet firm, and thank those businesses that are truly on our side. And don’t forget to love and support your friendly Utah Shared Access Alliance (USA-ALL)!
