Default Wow where did everyone go

I have been checking here also and noticed it has slowed down a bunch here. did everyone disapeer? where is all the Moab chat and ideas for future get togethers andso on and so on?

Also if you could put down your feeling on why you voted the way you did, I feel I would go to both if they were planned with enough time to save up the money, so I do want to see how the first one goes

There still around Scott, probably just waiting for the next set of details about the event, I'd say.

I take a look to see if anything is new, usually once a day. Setting up another rally to take place SOON near the center of the States is a great idea. Would help build & maintain interest in Moab rally also...

exactly the way I was thinking it lets people know we are not just interested in doing in the west only. so maybe they will make more effort to go if they know we plan on doing them in different locations across the US

Yeah I forgot you are a Kansan. Did you get snowed in?
Lebanon, KS. is the geographic center of the 48 states. something like St. Joseph State Park near St. Louis, MO. would be an ideal spot for a weekend get together on short notice for centrally located folks. 1 or 2 day rides. Finger lakes is nice...
I live in the town on St. Joseph, few hundred miles from the park of the same name so I'm not trying to suggest we get a ride on in my back yard... Lots of places to consider including the big sand-box in OK.
Lets not coast until June... lets set up a ride next month in the central 4 state area like KS, MO, IA, AR etc... anyone? 55 degrees here today.

Bet Chris has an idea.

as for the snow it was real bad here we were snowed in for two days and the roads out of town were closed by the hiway patrol. I like waynoka alot it is fun I just havent had my 2002 ranger there I did drive a 2007 and it was great riding around the dunes with that. as for finger lakes they told me when I was there with our 4 wheelers that sxs's are not allowed and I relly want to see the superlift park.

Hey guys,

To begin planning another event would be impossible at this point. Just getting this first one off the ground has been far greater of a task than I expected. But, for little get togethers you guys are more than welcome to do whatever you'd like. Once we get the committees setup and some of the work is off me personally, we might be able to think about the next event.

I agree with Chris. Let's get this one up and going and then we can talk about something farther east. It sounds like a good campfire discussion at Moab. Jack

I agree Jack! Everyone has been more than willing to help so far, but I guess I'm a terrible deligator apparently. We're getting the online registration page up and running soon along with the initial magazine ads, insurance, manufacturers, etc. It's a lot more than I expected, that's for sure, but it's going to be done right. People will regret missing this event, for sure.

Default Some comments

It probably isn't my place to make comments on the rally because I am not going to be involved but,,,,,I was pumped when the idea of the rally was first hatched. I voted for Arkansas and if it had been in Arkansas or Oklahoma the wife and I would have been the first there and the last to leave. The problem is that I have a Moab-Colorado trip already planned for later in the year with some friends. The Director of Finance says we can't go out that way twice in one year and I have to agree with her. [darn it] I hope the rally is a giant success. There are some people that have jumped in with both feet and that is what it takes to make something like this work.

I do have some reservations about some things and at the risk of being slammed I will state them. I am not trying to tear anybodys work down. I want this to work so I can go next year.

Events----The organized trail rides are good. Most campgrounds [at least private ones] have locals that know the area and can lead rides of varying difficulty. There are going to be people that want to take off on their own and that is fine but there are also people that don't want to worry about finding their way back to camp.

Geocache-----Can be a lot of fun but not everybody has a gps. For those that don't they are out of the event unless they hook up with somebody that has one. The fun is working it out yourself. Think of them.

tug-a-war---- Really hard on equipment. I run a nearly stock rhino. It would be foolish for me to hook up to someone with motor mods and fat tires. I would just be asking to shred a belt or snap an axel. I would rather take my chances of breaking something out on the trail than being pulled around backwards in the parking lot. If someone wants to see who has the baddest machine they can always challenge each other.

The blindfold race, barrel race, and pole bending are events that are fun and all can take part in. A stock machine is just as good as a modified one. All these events can be run in one evening.

I question how wise it is to limit the rally to just sxs. Remember that we are in a public campground. There will be other people there. What if some people on quads want to join us. Would the sxs be classed as snobs if they were denied? There was a post about motorcycles, quads and sxs all thinking they were the best. Something to think about. I attended a quad rally in Arkansas last fall. My rhino was welcomed. One of the rides I went on was led by a motorcycle, then about 15 quads and a couple of rhinos. COOPERATION It was fun. The rally should still be designed for the sxs. I doubt if you would be overloaded with other machines. Besides it is money in the pocket. The bigger the rally the better the publicity.

I've rambled enough. I really want this rally to work because I want to attend it sometime. If you disagree with my thoughts feel free to take your best shot. You won't hurt my feelings.
