Welcome back to all that have attended the 1st and/or 2nd year, and a big welcome to those planning to attend the 3rd Annual Moab UTV Rally for the first time on May 13-16th, 2009. This year is going to be bigger and more exciting than both years past, without a doubt. It's going to be held at the same place: The Old Spanish Trail Arena on the southeast side of town off 191. We’ve added an additional day of organized trail rides and some more events in the evenings. We’ll have a record number of OEM’s and vendors there supporting you with great products and support. If your company is interested in sponsoring the UTV Rally, please CLICK HERE! Here are some great videos posted by Jared Livingston from SidexSideForum.com
Welcome back to all that have attended the 1st and/or 2nd year, and a big welcome to those planning to attend for the first time in 2009. If you’re wondering what your registration covers, here you go: Please Read Before Registering: The registration fee applies to everyone that attends: Kids, Parents, Spouses, Friends, Everyone. If your spouse/friend/child is a passenger in your UTV in any of the events(Poker, Tug of War, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Drag Races, and Balance Beam), please select 0 for those events when registering for them. The prizes will be per UTV, not per person. In addition, if you have children/spouse/friend and they'd like to come with you on the poker run on their ATV/dirtbike, they are not required to pay the $5/event. But, if your children/spouse/friend wants to participate in the event and be eligible for the prizes, the $5 would apply to their registration. But, keep in mind that the prizes will be tailored towards UTV's, not ATV's or dirtbikes. What IS included in your registration? 1) Organized Trail Rides 13-16th - Easy, Moderate, & Difficult Wed.,Thur., Fri., & Sat. 2) Free Tech Clinics 3) Catered Dinner 4) Awards Ceremonies/Slide Shows 5) T-Shirt What's NOT included in your registration? 1) Utah OHV Registration 2) Lunches 3) Breakfasts 4) Dinners except for 1 catered dinner on Friday night 5) RV/Campground Reservations Miscelleneous Details: - This is a UTV specific event. - ATV's and dirtbikes will only be allowed to participate if they are immediate family members/friends. - The events will be limited to only UTV's to make it fair and safe. - Alcohol is prohibited while riding/participating in any of the organized events/trail rides/etc. - All trail guides will carry a Radio/CB, GPS, Cell Phone, Maps, First Aid Kit, Tools, and Recovery Equipment. - Organized trail rides are subject to change and are based on registration order. This means that as the groups fill up, it's possible you'll leave in the second or third group. It’s highly recommend you pre-register below. What does it cost? $75/Adult $45/Child below 16 $5/event $20/Post Event DVD Every person must register, because of the BLM, SITLA, and the Insurance requirements. For those that have come in the past, and you’re wondering why the fees have increased, here’s the breakdown: - Because of the added day, BLM costs an extra $5/person - BLM prices have increased to $5/day/person from $4/day/person, so an additional $8/person total - T-Shirts are included this year for everyone - Insurance has gone up $16/person So, we’ve tried to keep it as low as possible for you, but at the same time couldn’t afford to eat the entire increased expenses. Pre-Register Here: https://www.eventville.com/catalog/e...ventid=1004634 To reserve your accommodations, please here’s a list of the closest places: OK RV Park – Website – 435-259-1400 – Closest location KOA – Website – 435-259-6682 – 2nd Closest location Spanish Trail RV – Website – 800-787-2751 – Email – 3rd Closest location Moab Rim RV - Website – 888-599-6622 – Email – RV & Cabins available – 4th Closest location Canyonlands Campground – Website – 800-522-6848 – RV & Cabins available – 5th Closest location La Quinta Inn – Website – 435-259-8700 – Email – Closest hotel Comfort Suites – Website – 435-259-5252 – Email – 2nd Closest hotel Big Horn Lodge – Website – 800-325-6171 – Email – 3rd Closest hotel OHV Registration: The following states will allow you to use your resident state's OHV stickers in Moab. If your state is not on the list, you'll have to get a UTAH OHV sticker (Please see below): California Delaware Idaho Indiana Iowa Massachusetts Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Montana New Jersey New Mexico New York North Dakota Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Texas Vermont Washington Okay, if your state is not on the list above, you'll need a permit from Utah. Please go here for the non-resident OHV application: Utah State Parks » Off-Highway Vehicles » Out-of-State Registration. If your UTV is street legal in your current resident state, and you are visiting less than 14 days, no sticker is necessary. The following local places offer permits, as well, but we’d recommend getting it handled ahead of time: Dead Horse Point State Park SR 313 (off us 191) 435-259-2614 Elite Motorcycle Tours 1310 Murphy Ln 435-259-7621 Maverik Country Store 435 N Main 435-259-8718 Maverik Country Store 985 S Hwy 191 435-259-0775 When applying in person, you will need the following: 1. Proof of residency: driver’s license or other state issued identification. 2. Proof of ownership Okay, last but not least, if you have children that will be riding a UTV, ATV, or dirtbike, you need to call 800-648-7433 and ask for the non-resident course testing materials. They will send you a manual, test, and answer sheet that your children will have to pass(in your presence ), so it shouldn't be hard. They will then issue you a 30 day temp permit, and keep in mind they will need to be 8 years old to when they get a driver's license to fit into this category. In case you’re wondering, Utah has passed a law to allow street legal registration of OHVs for Utah State residents. We’re in the process of getting approval to have temporary access for the event to run on paved roads to get to and from the trailheads. If this doesn’t happen, it’s not a big deal, because we’ll operate in the same fashion as last year with police escorts. If you want to guarantee your vehicle is okay to ride on the paved roads, complete all the requirements listed here: Utah State Parks » Off-Highway Vehicles » In-State Registration But, if you want to play it safe, plan on bringing gas cans and parking your UTV locked up in the Arena and driving to and from your campground, unless you’re staying at OK RV Park, which is on-site. If you’re coming in a motorhome with no additional transportation, I’d recommend booking at OK RV Park. Keep in mind, all of this will change if/when we get approval to ride on the paved roads, so stay tuned. For those wanting to get full registered, Kyle has started a thread that will help you find turn signal kits for your UTV here: Utv turn signal kits - UTV Rally UTV Events Moab UTV Rally Side by Side Rally Side x Side Rally Side by Side Events Side x Side Events SxS Rally SxS Events For a complete Schedule of Events, please see the attached file below. If you've never been to Moab, UT to off-road, get ready for the time of your life, because I guarantee it's like nothing you've ever experienced. If you have additional questions, please reply to this thread with them and on of the Rally staff will respond in short time. Here's some additional videos from last year, and keep in mind, there's trails from mild to wild and everything in beween. It's just that the hardcore stuff makes for the best videos! Here's some footage from our 1st Annual UTV Rally: Chris Last edited by ravencr; 05-09-2009 at 11:08 AM. |

What a great post Chris.........
If you don't get excited / pumped up after checking out all the videos and information then, I would say your not alive......... I don't think the fee increase is bad at all. Dinner, T's, all the vendors being there and it being organized for us. Meeting new friends and seeing friends that we made in the past. Well worth it with all the hard work that Chris, Kyle, Michelle and many other people put into this event........

I've read all about the rv parks and hotels, but nobody has mention camping near the events. We are all street legal in Az, but would rather be able to come and go as we please and not have to be escorted to our rv's. Friends and family in our group are all running 30'+ toy haulers and rv's, so is there plenty of camping room near by? Is the weather cool enough around that time of year to not need full hook-ups? Is there a daily camping fee?
Thanks, Chris |

Are you talking about dry camping instead of having full hookups?

We haven't done dry camping in the past, but we might be able to this year. I don't know why you would want to when you can stay at OK RV park right next door to the Arena with the same access as you would have dry camping on the property.

When we go in a group, we want to camp next to each other, have a camp fire, pull out the movie screen, etc... you can't always do this in an rv park, even if you can get spaces together. I thought you said that all rv parks would still need escorts to the trails and/or events.

OK RV Park guests have full access to the Arena any time they want, because it's right next door. We're still hoping everyone else will too, but we're working through the details to confirm our ability to ride the roads to and from KOA and Spanish Trail.
If you want to dry camp, email me, and I might be able to work something out, depending on space, but I can't guarantee it yet. Chris |

I just reread above where you said OK rv park is on site. We would probably still need to dry camp because most of my group won't know til next year whether they can make it, and rv spots might be booked up. Some of the people in my group are realtors, mortgage brokers, business owners, and are going day by day with todays economy. I also need to talk to some of my friends and find out where they camped near the trails in the past.
