Default Moab UTV Registration Guidelines...

Hey folks,

Here's the information you'll need to make sure you have all the necessary permits for the Rally.

The following states will allow you to use your resident state's OHV stickers in Moab. If your state is not on the list, you'll have to get a UTAH OHV sticker (Please see below):

Alabama
Alaska
Colorado
Connecticut (atv only)
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Illinois
Iowa
Kentucky
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Nevada
New Hampshire
New Jersey
North Carolina
Ohio
Rhode Island
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Virginia
West Virginia
Wyoming

Okay, if your state is not on the list above, you'll need a permit from Utah. Please go here for the non-resident OHV application: http://www.stateparks.utah.gov/ohv/d...pplication.pdf

My recommendation would be to do this ahead of time, and not wait till you get into town. But, if you're a procrastinator, here's the local places you can get it done as well:

Canyonlands Natural History Association
Moab Information Center
3015 South Hwy 191
Moab, UT 84532
435-259-6003 X14

Dead Horse Point State Park
SR 313
Moab UT 84532-0609
435-259-2614

Maverik
435 North Main
Moab UT 84532
435-259-8718

Maverik
985 South Hwy 191
Moab UT 84532
435-259-0775

When applying in person, you will need the following:
1. Proof of residency: drivers license or other state issued identification.
2. Proof of ownership
Revenues generated from OHV user fees are dedicated to construction, improvement, operation and maintenance of OHV trails.

Okay, last but not least, if you have children that will be riding a UTV, ATV, or dirtbike, you need to call 800-648-7433 and ask for the non-resident course testing materials. They will send you a manual, test, and answer sheet that your children will have to pass(in your presence ), so it shouldn't be hard. They will then issue you a 30 day temp permit, and keep in mind they will need to be 8 years old to when they get a driver's license to fit into this category.

I called one of the registration places, and they said if your UTV is street legal, and you are visiting less than 14 days, no sticker is necessary. Also, he said UTV's legal to drive in AZ are not legal to drive on the streets in UT.

Once again, I'd highly recommend doing all of this way ahead of time, especially if you have children. You can't do the children's requirement when you get there, so make sure you don't wait too long.

Chris

What happened to New Mexico? I thought the NM was one of the states that was good to go there in Utah.

Rick,

Your good. NM is "not" on the list of states that "require" a permit. I'm not so lucky.

Well according to the State of Utah's web site the states listed here MUST purchase the "Non-Resident Permit". Chris you need to go back and check this before alot of people get it wrong.

The states listed above don't need to buy stickers. If your state isn't listed, then you'll need to buy a sticker.

Chris you need to go to this link that YOU posted and read it. It clearly states that the list that you have posted MUST purchase the "Non-Resident Permit. All states not on your list can use their own states registration.

K, you're right. They reversed the list. I appreciate the clarification.
